    Natural Wonders


    Since the park is a protected area, there are some great wildlife viewing opportunities. Here are some things you may see on your hike:


    • Whitetailed Deer
    • Coyote
    • Bobcat
    • Wild Turkey
    • Bald Eagle
    • Scarlet-Tanager (spring-summer)
    • Red-Tailed Hawk
    • Box Turtle
    • Various Non-Venomous Snakes
    • Scissortailed Flycatcher
    • Groundhog
    • Red Fox


    Keep an eye out and use caution when hiking, the following may also be found in this park:


    • Copperhead Snake
    • Diamondbacked and Pygmy Rattlesnakes
    • Poison Ivy
    • Stinging Nettles
    • Deerflies
    • Ticks (there is a larger than normal tick population in the park)
    • Wasps and Hornets
    • Black and Brown Widow Spiders


    It is best to use caution around creeks and areas of high grass or thick brush especially in the spring and summer months.
